Six hilarious and energetic troupes ripped up the Planet Ant stage last night, making it a tough choice for those who were there to vote.  Andrew Seiler was even picked from the audience to get his own personal love song from newcomers, The Chaos Monkeys. The winners of last Colony Fest, under their new moniker, Clocked In, were able to squeeze plenty of additional laughs from the house as votes were being tallied. In the end, one troupe was a clear winner in the votes department. Congratulations to WSG who will be back tonight at 9PM! So we have SUBJECT TO CHANGE, MOXIE and now WSG as our finalists! The show starts at 8PM tonight AND there’s a rumor we may have a party out back going at 6PM! I think you should plan to test that theory…

Finalist #3 WSG

STANDING: Garri Madera, Tom Kollerberg and Maria Monkaba. NOT SEATED: Katie Saari

The second night of Colony Fest, while not as well attended as the first, had plenty of laughs for everyone from five great troupes and a solo act with a twist. Bold choices and outstanding character work dominated a night capped off with the original five-person configuration of PILLOW FIGHT – a previous Colony Fest winner. Somewhere before mid-evening, the show had turned into a battle of the sexes. In the end, it was the women came through where it counts and the winner, by audience vote, was MOXIE! Congratulations, ladies. We’ll see you again in the finals on Saturday at 8:30PM! Now then, let’s do this all again tonight! Only $5 at 8PM gets you seven amazing troupes! See you then.

2nd finalists

The first night of Summer Colony Fest was a sell out! Six extremely diverse troupes brought their game and each earned a ton of laughs. After tallying up the audience votes, only one was able to edge out the rest. Congratulations to SUBJECT TO CHANGE! Rebecca Concepcion, Mike Hofer and Katie Saari will be back on Saturday at 8PM to compete in the finals! And be sure to join us again, tonight at 8PM, as six more troupes rip up the stage with big laughs. See you then!

Planet Ant Theatre proudly presents the world premiere of Salvage – by Joseph Zettelmaier.

Jason Lorio is the proud owner (and sole employee) of Hidden Treasures, a collectables store in Detroit. After years of struggling, the store is on the verge of bankruptcy. Unwilling to leave the town he loves, Jason’s possible salvation appears in the form of an unusual customer – Anna Jones. The friendship they form leads them both to a potential windfall, but the price may be higher than it appears. When faced with the question “What can you live with?” the answer might not be what you expect.

Salvage is directed by Inga Wilson and features: Rob Pantano and Alysia Kolascz. The production team rounds out with: Maria Tejada stage managing, Kirsten Bianchi designing costumes, Kevin Barron designing lights and Kate Peckham designing sound.

Tickets are $20 and seating is general admission. Discounts are available for seniors, students and Hamtramck residents.
