The Off Campus Improv Fest (OCIF) is a one-day celebration of college improv, hosted in the vibrant city of Hamtramck, Michigan. This all-day event, taking place on Saturday, March 29th, 2025, brings together College improv teams to perform, learn, and compete in a professional setting. With workshops, performances, and a friendly improv competition, it’s the perfect opportunity to connect with other improvisers and have a blast performing on Planet Ant stages.
What is Planet Ant?
Planet Ant Theatre is a cornerstone of Detroit’s thriving arts scene. With our multiple stages, classroom spaces, and community, Planet Ant is well known for it’s improv.
With a 30 year history of teaching and performing improv and multiple performance spaces, it’s positioned as the ideal venue for OCIF.
Our theatre is also know to have worked with some of the best names in Detroit comedy such as Keegan Michael Key, Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson.
Who is Roial Improv?
Roial Improv is one of Michigan’s premier college improv groups, based out of MSU and known for its dedication to fostering a love of improv among students. Their mission is to create a supportive and fun atmosphere for performers to grow and connect, and they’re thrilled to co-host OCIF alongside Planet Ant.

Who Can Participate in the Fest?
Any college improv team is welcome to join! Whether your style is short form, long form, musical improv, or something of your own design, OCIF is designed to accommodate all types of performances. Teams can perform in the way they do best on their home stage and participate in workshops to enhance their skills. If you have scheduling constraints, just let us know so we can work around them.
Is There a Sign-Up Fee?
No, for our first year there is no sign-up fee to participate in OCIF! This festival is all about celebrating improv and making it accessible for college teams to come together and share their talent. We didn’t want to charge the normal fee for improv troupe submission.
